WATCH ON YOUTUBE stocks ended mixed on Tuesday, as investors parsed a deluge of earnings reports. Meanwhile, Treasury yields slipped as traders snapped up bonds after soft economic data. Semiconductor stocks, which had led recent gains, faced profit-taking, while the software sector’s momentum slowed. Precious metals and cryptocurrencies resumed their pullbacks, and weaker retail sales data triggered a bond rally, pulling the 10-year Treasury yield to a four-week low. Earnings season remained in focus, with Coca-Cola shares falling after missing revenue expectations, while Spotify surged thanks to strong user growth and better-than-expected results. Marriott and Hasbro also gained — Marriott from higher credit card fees and Hasbro from a new partnership with Warner Bros Discovery. Overall, markets rewarded strong earnings and punished weaker ones as investors became more selective. On the macro front, flat retail sales and other weak data increased expectations for multiple Federal Reserve rate cuts in 2026, sending U.S. yields lower and boosting equities like the Dow, which hit another record high. Gold, silver, and platinum prices dipped ahead of key inflation and jobs data, and oil prices were little changed, held steady by ongoing U.S.-Iran tensions affecting supply risk.
