WATCH THE MORNING CALL ON YOUTUBE MPC Morning Call 10 th December 2025 – Stocks flat into Fed, Silver rockets to new record Stocks were largely flat overnight as the FOMC Meeting began. Meanwhile Silver rocketed 5% to $61to set a fresh record high The Federal Reserve began its latest two-day policy meeting, with markets overwhelmingly expecting an interest rate cut when it concludes Wednesday. The likelihood of easing from the current 3.75%–4% range sits near 89%, according to CME FedWatch data. However, the decision is expected to be divisive, as several policymakers have cautioned against another reduction in rates amid limited economic data caused by a prolonged government shutdown. Analysts expect a “hawkish cut,” where the Fed lowers rates but signals caution about further easing in 2026, especially as private payrolls and job openings show modest strengthening. Beyond the Fed, Nvidia captured investor attention after President Donald Trump announced via Truth Social that the company could resume selling its high-performance H200 AI chips to approved Chinese clients, subject to a 25% tariff and national security restrictions. The move, reportedly well-received by China’s President Xi Jinping, opens up potential for Nvidia to boost sales of one of its most advanced chips, a product crucial to global AI development. The decision could mark a partial thaw in tech tensions while offering a lift to Nvidia’s stock outlook. Meanwhile, corporate headlines extended to Warner Bros Discovery, which faces a fresh takeover bid from Paramount Skydance valued at $108.4 billion. The offer exceeds Netflix’s earlier $72 billion deal and includes all Warner properties, from film studios to cable assets, setting up a fierce media industry showdown. Energy stocks rose as Exxon Mobil upgraded its long-term earnings forecast, while weaker earnings from AutoZone and Toll Brothers pressured their shares, underscoring the mixed tone across sectors as markets await the Fed’s pivotal announcement. Government Bond Yields Commodities, Energy & FX ASX Overnight: SPI 8614 (+0.27%) The Day Ahead: Expect the interest rate sensitive sections of the market to have a rough day as a Hawkish RBA put an end to rate cut speculation and importantly, didn’t take hikes off the table (which the media always infer as “must be hiking” for a headline) Silver stocks will have a great day!! Corporate news: GQG Partners reported funds under management (FUM) of $US166.1 billion as of November 30, up from $US163.7 billion at the end of October. Despite the rise in total FUM, the firm recorded net outflows of $US2.4 billion for November and $US1.8 billion year-to-date.
