WATCH ON YOUTUBE MPC Morning Call 24 th December 2025 – 2025 the Year of AI? Silver and Platinum beg to differ Stocks headed higher but the Grey Precious Metals stole the headlines with a Santa Rally in Silver and Platinum now sitting at 43% for silver and 51% for Platinum in the last month alone U.S. third-quarter GDP grew at an annualized rate of 4.3%, exceeding expectations and accelerating from 3.8% in the prior quarter. This stronger-than-expected growth reflects resilient consumer spending and came after a delay caused by the federal shutdown. The data highlights ongoing economic momentum despite earlier concerns, though markets reacted cautiously as investors reassessed how this might affect the outlook for interest rate cuts. Following the GDP release, stocks dipped briefly as strong economic data tempered expectations for early 2026 rate cuts. However, the technology sector remained robust, led by Nvidia’s 3% gain, with other major tech firms like Apple, Alphabet, and Microsoft also edging higher. Analysts noted that while GDP data is lagging, the strength of consumer demand could pose risks to dovish market expectations already priced into equities. Economists, including Ali Jaffery of CIBC, suggested the GDP report is unlikely to shift the Federal Reserve’s stance, as policymakers remain more focused on the softening labor market. He reaffirmed expectations for two rate cuts in the first half of next year. Meanwhile, investors are watching for signs of a Fed leadership change, with Chair Jerome Powell’s term ending in May and President Donald Trump reportedly interviewing potential replacements, adding another layer of uncertainty to the policy outlook.
