CoreWeave on the 11th. Nebius on the 12th. IREN later in the month. And yes, we are watching them too. But here is the thing nobody seems to be talking about: the companies actually collecting cash from the AI build-out just posted a July that was, frankly, absurd, and the market barely blinked. Comfort Systems put on a US$14.1 billion backlog, up 73% in a year, mostly from data centre work. Powell Industries booked a single data centre order worth more than US$400 million. nVent grew revenue 53% with AI data centre sales more than doubling. And the critical minerals feeding these builds, the copper and rare earths in every transformer, switchgear panel and cooling motor, are being underwritten by government price floors that did not exist eighteen months ago. The market mood has shifted from climatic to thematic. Wars on, markets rally. Wars off, markets rally. Central bank noise, markets rally. You cannot kill it. So the question becomes: what beaten-down themes can get pretty again? We think data centres, critical minerals and robotics are three entry points into one trade, and August is giving you fifteen dated catalysts to find your way in. What is actually working in the DaaS trade right now? The data centre theme has split into three layers, and only one of them is printing money. The equipment and construction companies, the Vertivs and Eatons and ABBs, are posting record orders and raising guidance. ABB booked US$12.0 billion of orders in Q2, up 30%. Equinix called its June-half raise the largest single guidance raise in the history of the company. Schneider lifted full-year EBITA growth guidance to 14-19%. The tenant layer, the neoclouds we all know by name, is a different story. Nebius lost US$11.9 billion of market value in one session on a Meta headline. No contract cancelled, no guidance changed. CoreWeave sold off hard on the same news despite a US$99.4 billion backlog. These stocks are trading on funding conditions, not demand. And…
